TUSCANY REGION
Sangiovese, or Brunello as named locally, and Montepulciano are the two most important black grape varieties of central Italy. The warm climate allows for the grapes to produce concentrated red wines. Brunello di Montalcino DOCG is a powerful and full-bodied wine from the sunny town of Montalcino in southern Tuscany. It has very high levels of tannin and acidity and must mature in oak for an extended period before release; they have a very long aging potential in the bottle.
