Exploring the Wines of Piedmont at The Escape

On 15 October, Dunstan Vintner brought a taste of Italy to the heart of Singapore with an intimate evening of exceptional wines, delicious bites, and la dolce vita at The Escape.

Celebrating the rich winemaking heritage of Piedmont, the evening featured eight distinctive wines from two renowned Italian producers, Tenuta Olim Bauda and Mario Giribaldi. From the aromatic sweetness of Moscato d’Asti to the remarkable depth and elegance of Barbaresco and Barolo, guests were invited to discover the diversity, character, and craftsmanship that make Piedmont one of Italy’s most celebrated wine regions.

A Journey Through Piedmont, One Glass at a Time

The evening began on a refreshing note with Tenuta Olim Bauda, a producer known for expressing the character of Piedmont through wines of precision and personality.

The 2025 Moscato d’Asti DOCG “Centive” offered an aromatic introduction, setting a delightful tone for the tasting. It was followed by the 2025 Gavi del Comune di Gavi DOCG, showcasing another side of the region’s wine heritage. The 2023 Grignolino d’Asti DOC “Isolavilla” brought a distinctive expression of Piedmontese red wine, while the 2020 Nizza DOCG Riserva rounded off the selection with the depth and structure expected of a wine from this prestigious appellation.

The journey continued with Mario Giribaldi, whose selection highlighted the complexity and ageing potential of Piedmont’s iconic Nebbiolo wines.

Guests explored the 2022 Barbaresco DOCG Cottà alongside the 2017 Barbaresco DOCG, discovering different expressions of one of Italy’s most admired red wine appellations. The experience culminated in two distinguished Barolo selections: the 2015 Barolo DOCG and the 2014 Barolo DOCG Ravera Riserva. Renowned for their structure, complexity, and distinctive character, these wines offered a fitting finale to an evening dedicated to the artistry of Italian winemaking.

Good Wine, Good Food, and the Joy of Gathering

Beyond the wines themselves, the evening was about the pleasure of sharing good food, discovering new favourites, and connecting over a common appreciation for fine wine.

A selection of snacks and bites accompanied the tasting, creating a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere in which guests could savour each pour at their own pace. Every glass offered an opportunity to explore a different facet of Piedmont, from its vibrant and aromatic whites to its expressive reds and age-worthy classics.

It was a celebration of the Italian approach to living well: taking time to appreciate quality, enjoy good company, and find joy in the little things.

Celebrating Italy’s Winemaking Heritage

From Tenuta Olim Bauda’s diverse expressions of Piedmont to Mario Giribaldi’s distinguished Barbaresco and Barolo wines, the evening at The Escape was a reminder of the remarkable diversity that makes Italian wine so captivating.

At Dunstan Vintner, we believe great wine is more than what is in the glass. It is a story of place, tradition, craftsmanship, and the people who come together to enjoy it.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for this special evening and helped make it a memorable celebration of Italian wine culture.

Here’s to more discoveries, more shared moments, and more occasions to embrace la dolce vita.
