McHenry Hohnen vineyard: Sauvignon Blanc for vintage 2021

Updated: Nov 3, 2023

An exciting time to see Sauvignon Blanc at McHenry Hohnen soaking up the last rays of the summer sun. Vintage 2021 is underway!

Margaret River Sauvignon Blanc does best in cool but sunny regions – areas influenced by the cooling effects of ocean breezes or elevation. It is typically light-bodied with fresh vibrant and distinctive flavours, oaked and unoaked versions depending on the desired style. Margaret River has made its name by producing ‘Classic Dry White’ blends of Semillon and Sauvignon Blanc in various quantities.

About the McHenry Hohnen vineyard

In July 2020, McHenry Hohnen has earned a formal biodynamic certificate for their Hazel's vineyard located in Margaret River. Biodynamic farming method all comes down to shape the land by the use of natural processes so that the vines will grow nothing but the best grapes.⠀

Bright flowers that grow also attract insects, such as bees, to pollinate the grapevines. It also concentrates the insects within the areas so that birds will eat the insects instead.

⠀

Key processes include growing radishes to assist in breaking up the ground, making it nice and loose. Snow peas are legumes that encourage nitrog

en production into the ground. They also have quite striking flowers to attract bees.⠀

We at Dunstan Vintner are proud to support biodynamic agriculture, which allows a minimalistic approach in the winery.
