Bodegas Valduero
Ribera del Duero, Burgos, Spain
"Aged in barrels for 3 years in 4 different types of wood. Stabilisation in the bottle since 2012. Variety 100% Tempranillo (Tinto Fino). It is only made in exceptional vintages with a very limited production. 100% manual production process. This wine is not touched by any machine. Vineyards: clay and limestone lands. Altitude 890m. Vineyards over 50–70 years old, with a yield of just 1,000 kg/Ha. Native yeasts that provide the character and personality of the terroir. A collector's wine.
Intense garnet colour, with a very high layer, which indicates the greatness of this wine. Notes of black fruit, blackberry and fruit compote. An elegant wine, with structure, that already on the nose it is perceived that its passage through the mouth is going to be great. A great wine from Ribera del Duero, it achieves an amazing balance with its velvety touch and its power, a reflection of time spent in the bottle."

Bodegas Valduero is one of Spain’s most visionary and globally respected wineries. For almost 40 years, this family-owned-and-run estate has been leading the way in Ribera del Duero. One of the first wineries to emerge in Ribera del Duero after the Denominación de Origen (DO) was founded in 1982, Valduero helped shape its early days, and has been producing some of the region’s most iconic wines ever since.
The bodega’s story is one that brings together all the necessary elements for creating a great wine estate: a world- beating terroir and a passionate winemaking family with the artisan philosophy, vision and long-term commitment (and investment) required to turn great fruit into great wine.
The story starts in 1984, when Gregorio García Álvarez, and his two daughters Yolanda and Carolina García Viadero, came together to revive the family tradition of winemaking. Each of the three brought disparate and complementary skills: Gregorio as an industrial engineer, Yolanda an agricultural engineer and Carolina with her degree in Art History and an MBA. Coming together as a team of partners fitting together like pieces of a puzzle, they embark on a long and successful path, accorded today with international awards and great recognition of its wines with several of them among the 10 best in the world.
