Bodegas Valduero

Ribera del Duero, Burgos, Spain

“Minimum 4 years in barrel, 8 years in bottle. Variety 100% Tempranillo (Tinto Fino). It is only made in exceptional vintages with a limited and numbered production. Alcoholic and malolactic fermentation in 500L French oak barrels. Shelled by hand. Vineyard over 90 years old, whose production does not exceed 1,500 kg/Ha. Vineyard: land of clay and limestone. Native yeasts that provide the character and personality of the terroir. A collector's wine.

Minimum 48 months in oak barrels from 6 different origins. A great wine. Elegant. Garnet red colour with evolution towards brick tones. On the nose it is clean. Frank. With slightly minty, leather and tobacco aromas from different origins and with soft cedar perfumes. Its entry into the mouth is silky, with acidity present and perfectly integrated with the tannins. With a harmonious journey, the aftertaste sensations are long-lasting and full of memories of the aromas discovered.”

Serving temperature: 18-19°C

Bodegas Valduero is one of Spain’s most visionary and globally respected wineries. For almost 40 years, this family-owned-and-run estate has been leading the way in Ribera del Duero. One of the first wineries to emerge in Ribera del Duero after the Denominación de Origen (DO) was founded in 1982, Valduero helped shape its early days, and has been producing some of the region’s most iconic wines ever since.

The bodega’s story is one that brings together all the necessary elements for creating a great wine estate: a world- beating terroir and a passionate winemaking family with the artisan philosophy, vision and long-term commitment (and investment) required to turn great fruit into great wine.

The story starts in 1984, when Gregorio García Álvarez, and his two daughters Yolanda and Carolina García Viadero, came together to revive the family tradition of winemaking. Each of the three brought disparate and complementary skills: Gregorio as an industrial engineer, Yolanda an agricultural engineer and Carolina with her degree in Art History and an MBA. Coming together as a team of partners fitting together like pieces of a puzzle, they embark on a long and successful path, accorded today with international awards and great recognition of its wines with several of them among the 10 best in the world.
