Murray Henry was born into a family of hoteliers, owning and developing several businesses relating to the food and beverage industry. His experience in the wine business has an impressive pedigree - his brother-in-law David Hohnen started Cape Mentelle. In the 80s they went over to New Zealand and started Cloudy Bay.
The wine in both vineyards was of such high quality that the Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton group came in as shareholders. In the years that followed, he bought several parcels of land in the Margaret River region. Started his winery McHenry Hohnen in 2004, and he secured his position as the premier winemaker in that region, producing single varietal wines from Chardonnay, Zinfandel, and Cabernet Sauvignon.

Today, the McHenry Hohnen vineyards are managed using 100% biodynamic methods, which dramatically improve the vitality and health of the soil, leading to wines that will continue to impress for years to come.
The Hazels’ vineyards are located in the south of the Margaret River region with blessings of cooling Southern Ocean influencer, a northerly aspect, plenty of sunshine and free-draining, ironstone gravel loam soil. Planting with a wide range of varietals, the Hazel’s vineyard forms the backbone of their portfolio.
